Watch now: The Weeknd shoots bats out of his mouth in surreal “Call Out My Name” video

Image Group LA/ABCMuch like fans analyzed the lyrics to The Weeknd’s new song “Call Out My Name,” get ready to analyze the bizarre visuals in his video for the tune.

The video kicks off with The Weeknd walking through a deserted street at night. At his first utterance of the chorus, a bunch of bats fly out of his mouth and then disintegrate in the air around him.

We also see shots of the singer in an empty movie theater and in a landscape that appears straight out of the Museum of Natural History — complete with taxidermy animals that blink. We then get some spacey visuals including an eerie alien-looking female that we only see at a distance.

“Call Out My Name” — off The Weeknd’s latest six-song EP, My Dear Melancholy — is rumored to be about his relationship with his ex, Selena Gomez. Fans particularly noted the lyric where he appears to reference Selena’s kidney transplant:  “I almost cut a piece of myself for your life/Guess I was just another pit stop/Til you made up your mind/You just wasted my time.”

My Dear Melancholy debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 album chart.
