Maya Rose Phillips, the reigning Miss Black South Carolina USA, hopes to become Miss Black USA and is a graduate student at South Carolina State University studying to obtain a Master’s of Arts in Teaching. She works as a Graduate Assistant for SCSU in the Student Success & Retention Program. . Maya has founded and established a forum to bring social and international awareness to issues like Human Trafficking titled, “STOP and Get Informed”. She travels to various schools, churches, and community events in SC & GA. Maya has been awarded several honors & recognitions that reflects her continuous contributions to her community. Maya is the epitome of what it means to be a Future Leader of South Carolina!
Week 3 Future Leader
Jaiven is a future leader of South Carolina. He is all about helping people and giving back to the community. He’s a people person who doesn’t hesitate to do anything for anybody to keep a smile on their face. Jaiven is also a young entrepreneur who has brought jobs and revenue to his community with the opening of his sneaker store In Sumter, South Carolina called Check Your Solez. A store he owns and operates while still attending high school as a senior. Jaiven is just the latest example of a Future Leader of South Carolina!
Week 2 Future Leader
Leayzia is the true reflection of what being young, black and determined is. She is currently a dual enrollment senior at Westwood High School. She is involved in many student organizations including Student Government which she is student body Vice President, honor societies, Beta Club (which she is President ) and more. She takes ownership of her past and owns her future. With many college acceptances including Howard University and UNC Chapel Hill, Leayzia proves to lead by example for all ages.
Week 1 Future Leader
Te’Yonna is an outgoing rising senior at Eau Claire High School. She has definitely left her mark with another year left. She’s been A/B honor roll and Principal list since day one. Drill team, color guard, and platoon commander in the NJROTC. She’s the junior class vice president and captain on the marching band. Saxophone section leader, softball player, and cheerleader. She’s won awards for community service and is an excellent theatre student. Te’Yonna is an awesome daughter, sibling, and friend with a heart of gold and unmatched drive in life.
