Footage Films Marques Houston is putting on his producer hat for his latest project. The Immature alum and Sister, Sister actor now serves as CEO of Footage Films, and is focused on putting out his newest project: the BET suspense thriller Running Out of Time.
In Houston’s film, Tasha Smith plays Brenda, a woman who loses her husband and learns that, along with his assets, he’s also left her a secret file that some very dangerous men want to get their hands on. The men then kidnap Brenda and her immediate family.
While Houston says his new film is an original idea, the singer admits it does have some similarities to Gabrielle Union‘s Mother’s Day thriller, Breaking In. In that film, Union’s defends her family from intruders who want to steal their money after their patriarch passes away.
“I haven’t really heard about any comparisons with the film,” Houston tells ABC Radio. “I know when we were shooting Running Out of Time— that was the first time I actually saw, I think, the trailer for Breaking In. And I was like, ‘Wow that’s kind of similar.’”
However, Houston insists that at heart, the two films are very different, adding that his will take you on a roller-coaster ride to a shocking ending.
“This movie takes you on a journey and at the end of it, you’re going to be like, ‘Wow, ah, wow!’” he says. “That’s all I can say. I don’t want to give too much away, but this movie will blow your mind at the end, and you gonna be like, ‘I gotta watch that again!’”
Running Out of Time, also starring RonReaco Lee and Telma Hopkins, premiered Saturday, December 1 at 8:00 p.m. ET on BET.
