Santiago Felipe/Getty ImagesMaster P has some big news. The No Limit Records founder has announced he’s secured a deal for his long-awaited biopic, the oddly titled King Of the South Ice Cream Man.
In an Instagram video over the weekend, P revealed his newly inked deal.
“Today is a big day for us. God is good. We just signed the biggest deal,” he said. “Look at all this work man. It took like a year. King of the South coming out [on] Lionsgate…If you thought Straight Outta Compton was a big, man this is about to be one of the biggest movies next year.”
He then took time to salute other “kings” of the south.
“Today we made history! Signed one of the biggest deals with LionsGate for the Master P biopic King of the South IceCream Man,” he wrote. “Salute to the kings that came before me Lil J, Uncle Luke, and Tony Draper. God is good to be able to be alive and tell your story, and have it written by Tyger Williams who did Menace to Society. Movies..Movies…Movie.”
As previously reported, Master P started to film his biopic last summer.
King Of the South Ice Cream Man will tell Master P’s life story, from his New Orleans childhood to his rise to the top of the music industry with his No Limit Records label.
