BEAUTY: Natural Roots LLC

I have had the distinct pleasure of working with “The Influencer” Kim Richard on various projects.  A Native of Charleston, SC , Richard has always had a love for natural and organic products. As the Owner and Creative mind behind Natural Roots LLC, Richard is a Mother and a proud Veteran of the United States Army.

Bianca Chardei : How Did Natural Roots LLC Get its Start?

Kim Richard: Natural Roots got its start after my wonderful husband encouraged me to go natural. His exact words were “I want to see the real you” (hence is where we got our motto from “Embrace The Real You!”) so after relaxing my hair since the 7th grade I decided to put down the creamy crack and embrace the way my hair grew naturally. But, in the meantime, while I was transitioning I did A LOT of research on hair, products, and hairstyles which made me fall in love even more with my hair that gave me a sense of pride and belonging.

Bianca Chardei: Why DIY Natural Recipes?

Kim Richard: I started to make DIY recipes for my hair because of one… I wanted my hair to be healthy as possible and two…. the store bought products would leave flakes in my hair (which drove me absolutely crazy) and it wasn’t long before friends and family started to ask me to make handmade products for them and yes you guessed it Natural Roots was born.

BiancaChardei: What is objective and mission statement for Natural Roots LLC?

Kim Richard:We are a minimalist company that creatively handcrafts natural and organic hair care products to give you maximum results.

Bianca Chardei:What type of Products does Natural Roots Carry?
Kim Richards:
The Butta– This Butta is for my type 4c hair sistas and is heaven sent.“The butta” will most defiantly bring out your perfect hair definition and have those twist and braid outs looking scrumptious. This is your “C” in the L.O.C (Liquid, Oil, and Cream) or L.C.O (Liquid, Cream and Oil) method.
The Oil A luscious combination of carrier and essential oils as
well as herbs. This oil was designed to lock in moisture, soften and
thicken hair, treat itchy scalp and help with premature graying. This
is definitely the “O” in your L.O.C (Liquid, Oil, and Cream) or L.C.O
(Liquid, Cream, and Oil) method.
The Refresher-Use this liquid gold to refresh and replenish your crown. It also stabilizes your hair pH balance and aids with repairing damaged hair. “The Refresher” also acts as an anti-inflammatory and because it’s a natural antiseptic, it reduces dandruff. If you are a curly, coily, kinky hair beauty you need more moisture daily to keep your hair from becoming dry and brittle. If you are a straight and wavy hair beauty you will need this as well to maintain healthy hair, especially in the summer months. This is your “L” in the L.O.C (Liquid, Oil, and Cream) or L.C.O (Liquid, Cream, and Oil) method.
The Detox-If you’re wondering why your hair is looking and feeling sad no matter what you do, you may need to detox your hair meaning removing the impurities that’s in your hair….yes even after you wash your hair you will still have impurities in it because water have impurities in it as well as the air not to mention the products that you use. “the detox” is a premixed clay mask  formulated to remove all of the “ucky” stuff out of your hair and is replaced with moisture and softness.  Don’t worry…it rinses out easily.
